Breathwork.

Inhale the present, exhale the past.

It starts with a feeling. A yearning for something more. To let go of the suffering, and to feel life anew. Which takes you to the breath. And in the breath, you realise that you had what you needed within you all along. The strength to exist. In this moment. Exactly as you are.

What I offer.

Conscious connected breathing.

This is a yin-type breathing technique, passive in its approach. It works by gently moving us into the physical body, allowing for a gentle release of the emotions. This type of breathwork is ideal for issues of the heart which may feel challenging to access - wounds like grief, loss, and feminine wounds related to the womb (e.g. infertility).

Re-birthing.

This is a yang-type breathing technique, active and intense. Some of us may hold trauma from our birthing experience (for instance, if we had a difficult birth) right up to the present moment. Re-birthing allows us to heal back to our very first trauma - that of birth. It can also assist with healing from inter-generational trauma.

The benefits.

  • Relieves tension and stress

  • Improves feelings of aliveness, inner-peace and well-being

  • Releases stagnant energy and toxins from the body

  • Gives guidance and clarity regarding your life’s purpose

  • Creates a deeper sense of inter-connectedness with the world

  • Brings emotions and memories to the surface in order to release them in a gentle, safe way

  • Unlocks self-expression and creativity to help you reach the ‘flow state’.

  • Addresses birth trauma, inter-generational trauma and PTSD

  • Promotes healing from childhood wounds (e.g. abandonment or rejection) in order to improve your relationships in the present

  • Allows you to access higher states of consciousness.

The risks.

Breathwork can cause intense feelings to arise, such as anger, sadness or fear. While most people do not experience any adverse side effects, it is encouraged to seek medical advice before engaging in this practice if you are pregnant, take regular medications, or have any of the following health conditions:

  • High blood pressure

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • History of heart attacks

  • Angina

  • Glaucoma

  • Retinal detachment

  • Seizure disorders

  • Recent surgery or injury

  • History of panic attacks or psychosis

  • Osteoporosis

  • Severe mental illness

  • Family history of aneurisms.

What the science says.

Many scientific studies have looked at the effect that breathwork has on people. Research has found that breathwork can effectively reduce death anxiety and improve self-esteem, increase self-awareness and improve one’s temperament - all with little to no adverse reactions.
